Hello World | Spring Break Re-Cap

Hello everyone.. Hope you enjoyed your Spring Break last week. The kids are back to school and no more sleeping in :-)  It has been a fun week in our world and thought we would just update you on what we have been up to lately.

Our sweet girl, Julia, turned 9 years old last weekend.  Wow, I still can not believe she is 9!!  We had a birthday party at the skating rink and the kids and even adults had a wonderful time skating.  We also had my sister, her kids, my cousin and her kids spend the night so all 7 children could have a “pajama party”.  How fun!  They all get along so well and it was awesome to see them play together for 2 days.  We then packed up the truck and traveled to Aiken, SC to spend the week with my sister and photograph Krista and David’s wedding last Monday.  It was a beautiful wedding and they could not have asked for nicer weather.   We were so thrilled to be a part of their day and they are such an amazing couple!!   We can not wait to show off their beautiful pictures!  On Tuesday, Jen (my sister) had to take Miller (my nephew) to get re-imaged (he battled stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer last year and has been free of cancer since this summer).  I agreed to go so he would be distracted and not so distraught during all the tests, etc.. I brought along a secret weapon… Angry Birds!  It’s amazing how that game will keep a child busy in a hospital for half a day.  The good news is the doctor was going out of town, so Jen was able to get his Cat Scan results that day (usually has to wait a few days) and all his scans were clear..no cancer!!  Praise God!  Every 3 months he has to get re-imaged to make sure he is still consider NED (no evidence of disease) and I know my sister really stresses each time he goes..  My sister is such an amazing and strong woman!!!  After that, we spent the rest of our visit relaxing and watching the kids play in the backyard for hours on end.. it was wonderful!   We came home Friday to find our huge Oak tree laying down in our backyard and neighbor’s backyard from last Tuesday’s storm.  This will be the 4th time dealing with an Oak tree damaging our fence, thank goodness for insurance.  It makes me sad because when we moved in 9 years ago we had 4 beautiful, old, large Oak trees in our backyard and now we have zero (time to start planting some trees)  We went to a birthday party on Saturday and I photographed a lovely family yesterday afternoon.  It has been a great Spring Break!!!

So now we are back to the rat race, the kids are in school (reluctantly..they wanted to sleep in) and David and I are editing weddings, family sessions, etc.  Our busy season is officially kicking in to high gear this week.  We are so thankful for the business and love that we are able to do this full time!!  We get to create art and memories for our clients and truly love every second of it!!  We have so many wonderful sessions this month and then our busy wedding season kicks in on May 7th.  Every Saturday in May we have a wedding.  Woo hoo!!  We can’t wait!

Well, hope you enjoy your Monday!  I am now off to more editing..  Amy
